For pharmacy practice residencies, submit the resident matching program application agreement form with the appropriate fee.

Begin work on curriculum vitae (CV) and cover letters.

October

Review the ASHP Online Residency Directory which provides information on ASHP-accredited residencies.

Request additional information and applications from programs of interest.

Register to attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting (MCM); select programs to visit in the MCM Residency Showcase.

For specialized residencies, register for the Personnel Placement Service (PPS).

Make necessary travel and housing arrangements.

November

Finalize CV.

For specialized residencies, using the preliminary PPS listing, select the residency programs for possible interviews.

December

Attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting.

Request letters of recommendation. Remember to enclose any forms required.

Complete all paperwork for applications, including ordering transcripts.

Schedule on-site interviews.

January

On-site interviews begin.

For pharmacy practice residencies, submit application agreement form to the National Matching Service by their published date.

February

Complete interviews. Narrow residency choices to programs that best meet your professional/personal needs and goals.

March

For pharmacy practice residencies, submit Rank Order Form to be received by National Matching Service by their published date.

Receive “Match” outcome for pharmacy practice residencies at 12 noon EST on the published date.

Unmatched pharmacy practice residency candidates resubmit application to programs with positions remaining.

July

Most residencies begin.
